Volunteer participation contributes to the success of our mission, which is to rescue and socialize dogs and cats so they can be adopted into safe and loving forever homes.
With the help of our volunteers, we can dedicate most of our financial resources to caring for our four legged friends. Our volunteers provide extensive socialization, handling and training for our dogs and cats – setting them up for success with their new families.

Ways to volunteer:
Fostering a Dog or Cat
SPR's foster program allows us to rescue, socialize and place our dogs and cats into loving forever homes. As a foster parent, you will nurture our dogs and cats until they are adopted. Fostering is important because it:
*Offers our dogs and cats a warm, safe, loving environment – away from the life in a shelter
*Allows our dogs and cats the opportunity to regularly interact with humans and other animals, which is necessary for successful socialization
*Provides valuable insight on the dog or cat's social & physical needs and temperament, which is helpful in matching our them with their forever homes
Photographs
We need photographers to take pictures of our wonderful pets for our website.
Fundraising
Volunteers are needed to assist with fundraising activities.
Online Adoption Screening
We receive numerous adoption applications online that we screen through a specific step-by-step process. Our screeners need to be available to do part of this during the work day as contacting work numbers is involved. They also need to be comfortable interviewing people over the telephone.
Administrative Support
We are always in need of administrative volunteers to help maintain our website, social media accounts, process paperwork, and other business tasks.
